Born To Sea

2000 Guineas Contenders 2012 - Born To Sea

Born To Sea was one of the highest profile juveniles in training last season and it will be interesting to see how he runs at Newmarket in the 2000 Guineas. Most know by now that he is the younger half-brother to the great Sea The Stars who we all remember winning the Guineas back in 2009. Born To Sea is trained by John Oxx who of course also trained Sea The Stars and it is clear connections are hopeful of a big run from the horse on the Rowley Mile.

Latest Born To Sea 2000 Guineas Betting Odds

Last season we saw Born To Sea make an impressive debut with a comfortable win at the Curragh where he showed a rather eye catching turn of foot which impressed onlookers. He followed that up with a second place behind Nephrite at Leopardstown at the end of October which did slightly burst his bubble as an odds on favourite. Connections said that day that the ground was on the soft side for him while he was also found to be slightly lame after the post which means he deserves to be given a second chance in the Guineas.

Conclusion

Born To Sea is without doubt a live contender in the 2000 Guineas Betting this season. His first win last season was very impressive and if he gets the fast ground he wants then he may make for a nice price behind the likes of Camelot. His last run behind Nephrite is a worry though with that horse disappointing already this season but punters should be wary of writing of Born To Sea just yet. Comparisons to Sea The Stars are always going to be there but even if he is half as good as his older half-brother then he will be a serious horse in 2012.
