Racing Post Trophy 2010

The Racing Post Trophy is always worth keeping an eye on for the following year's 2000 Guineas and the Derby for that matter. Last year it was an absolute cracker with Casamento claiming the win for the Godolphin stable, at this stage we are waiting to here if he will go to the 2000 Guineas or will be an Epsom Derby horse.

Winner - Casamento

Craven Stakes 2011

The Craven meeting at Newmarket is always a good pointer towards the 2000 Guineas and we saw Native Khan make a class reappearance to enhance his classic claims. He was always travelling the best of the field and when asked to by Kieren Fallon he went clear to win a touch cosily. At this stage connections have to decided if he will run at Newmarket for the English Guineas or go to the French Guineas.

Winner - Native Khan

Greenham Stakes 2011

The Greenham Stakes at Newbury was another big 2000 Guineas trial with all eyes on Frankel who had his first run of the season after a stunning season as a juvenile. The Henry Cecil horse started off as a massive hot favourite for the race and he duly obliged to claim the win and see his 2000 Guineas price cut yet further.

Winner - Frankel

Of course it is quite possible that many of the horses at the top of the 2000 Guineas Betting may not take in a run before heading to Newmarket as Sea The Stars did in 2009. Some trainers prefer to send that top three year-old horses straight to the Guineas before embarking on a tough season so their form as two-year old is always worth watching very closely.
